She definitely must be the last major American actress I'd never known about. In fact, I have NO IDEA how knowledge of her escaped me all these years - I'm a thesp myself, and am pretty up on classic theatre / film stars. What an impressive career and body of work she had, according to imdb! Nice work, Betty! - Just saw you in "Of Mice and Men" tonight for 1st time. Could have been a tiny bit more powerfully directed, I thought - esp. her death scene - but well acted. Now I must finally make myself sit through "King's Row" and find "Victory." - Virginia Hammer
