Recently purchased a lot of advertising clippings from Britain for Victory. A large part of them obviously came from Picture Show.

This is a real treat. A photo  post card from the magazine “Picturegoer” – a British publication.  I am always tickled or fascinated by the memorabilia that comes from other countries.  Again, there is no date, just Betty Field and her studio Paramount – but the photo suggests to me  that it is around the movies “What A Life!” or “Seventeen”.

However,  I do have a page in mind to take it’s place.  I’m going to call it ‘Betty in Print’ and provide a bibliographic type list of articles I’ve come across. Enjoy!

I was lucky…or something. I don’t usually do posters as they are too big to store or too expensive to try to restore or hang.  But  if the price is reasonable enough  I do try to get my hands on it.  As you can see this one is fairly fragile and ALMOST wasn’t really worth my dollar or my time. However I had been waiting a long time for something of Betty to become available and could not pass it up. Plus, I do have to remember the memorabilia for Victory is coming close to being 70 years old.   I believe I do have another Victory poster and will upload it and add it to this post ASAP.  They deserve to be together here.

Looking at the photo  (I don’t have the poster with me at the moment) I recall that it is a double or 3 sheet poster. Actually, I am pretty sure it is a three sheet, and the halves overlap a bit to create a seemless image. It is  quite large.

My biggest acquisition of scene photos for Victory! (1940) that starred Betty Field and Fredric March in the leading roles of Joseph Conrad’s novel. Also starred Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Jerome Cowan, Sig Rumann, Margaret Wycherly, and Fritz Feld.

Several photos are very much publicity photos – hard to identify because they basically just state the actress and studio she worked at.  I  am assuming I  had previously segmented it out to the  ‘Victory’  movie section because of a publicity blurb on the back.  So it falls before or after Victory and around 1940.
